The Backstory

I rescue this building from the attic once a year. It's about 10 inches tall and triangular. The thing about this building is that once it's on the side table on top of the mirror, guarded by a couple of trees and plugged in, it officially sets the holiday mood.

Research real vs fake news

Misinformation is everywhere. It is effective in several ways including occupying your time to deceive you and encourage you to spreed falsehoods aka lies.

With the amount of information that we come across on a daily basis it would be a full time job to research everything we hear. There are things that sound so believable yet are total fabrications. Do we rely on others to search for us, take someone else's word for it or do we take the time to check it out for ourselves? I suggest the latter.

Falling into autumn

The Backstory

Every year right about this time I spent time and energy looking for fall decorations stored

somewhere in the house. Normally they are in the in the attic yet last year I decided that I didn't want to deal with the attic so I stored it in the house in the main closet. Fast forward to last week.

I could not, for the life of me, remember if I had actually stored them in the closet. No big deal right. It was a matter of  going in there and looking around. I did and no such luck. After that my lack of desire of going in the attic almost made me forgo falling up the place. Yet the season got the best of me so I took a deeper look in the closet. There it was, buried under things that I stored there throughout the year. Luckily nothing was to heavy for me to move. It was a little tight so maneuvering was

Life Changing

Often I've read or watched things that were described as life changing yet for the most part they weren't life changing at all. This video is what I believe falls under the life changing category. Watch it to see if you agree or disagree.

There comes a moment when you think that you have it (life) all figured out yet still struggling to get past a certain hurdle. This video gives a clear picture of how we set ourselves in automatic pilot thus repeating the same unhealthy pattern while expecting things to change. Keep Going

Breathing Room - A calm walk by the lake.

When the daily grind has a hold of your time the only thing one can do is keep on going until your scheduled breather. Time has to be set aside to recharge your enthusiasm and drive. It is worth the investment.
If possible make it a weekly thing to pause everything. Schedules/deadlines will always be there yet you may not if you don't take time for yourself. I seldom took that advice until I began to feel like the hamster spinning non-stop on that wheel.

A heart

The perils of having more than one blog is that you either are writing to much or not at all. Something had to give.
I haven't posted here in a long time, duh. Birthdays, beach, repairs, yard work and much more has taken place since my previous post.
One of the things I have taken to is noticing more things, being present, putting the phone down.

Elusive Muffins

Once in a while I search for something new to bake for my family. The idea is to learn something new while occasionally surprising them with a tasty baked treat.
My latest attempt was corn meal muffins. I should say, I've tried twice with different recipes and both failed.

Sensitivity

This happened recently. I decided to share it here with you.

A friend wished he wasn't so sensitive. I expressed the following to him.

Where did the time go

I'll tell you where time went. Took a trip, had an injury, physical therapy, house full of guests over the holiday and oh yeah two teenagers but wait there's more.
Pausing to take a deep breath since obviously I can't do that and type at the same time.

Here we go. Garage door broke. Repairs were reasonable. Car left me on the road due to a washer falling off. Seventy five dollars later no one can figure out how that ever happened. It was on the other side of a bolt on the alternator. How it jumped off, we'll never know.
